Swan Lake Ballet Studio, LLC class descriptions
We offer a wide range of ballet and dance classes, including classic ballet for all ages, jazz, pointe and beginner poms. See additional information below.
Ballet

The goal of Ballet is to introduce the essentials of classical ballet. Strong ballet technique, proper body posture, French terminology and musicality will be introduced in the class. The structure of the class will include elementary barre and center work.

Pre-Pointe/Variations

Variations classes focus on learning sections of classical ballets with and without pointe. The class will start with pre-pointe exercises at the barre. The pre-pointe exercises will build a foundation for a more successful pointe dancer. Students will have an atmosphere for proper evaluation of important skills and preparation for performances.

Folk Dance

We like practicing Eastern European dances at the Swan Lake Ballet Studio, LLC.
The Hopak, a Cossack dance, sometimes referred to as the National Dance of Ukraine.
Western Ukrainian folk dance, Kolomeyka. Kolomeyka is a Hutsul (Ukrainian) music genre that combines a fast-paced folk dance and comedic rhymed verses. It includes a type of performance dance developed by the Ukrainian diaspora in North America.
Jazz/Lyrical

Jazz involves a wide range of dance techniques from Pop and Broadway. This style requires dancers to work on their skills and their creative style. Lyrical uses the vocabulary and softness of ballet, the musicality of jazz, and the techniques of modern dance to tell the story of a contemporary song.

Beginning Poms

Beginning Poms is designed for dancers interested in combining dance styles and skills with energy and enthusiasm. Classes will begin with a warm-up and stretching to continue improving flexibility, strength and endurance. This class will focus on improving and expanding the student’s skill set.

Tap

We like to add tap dance to the combo ballet class series. Tap characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Two major variations on tap dance exist: rhythm tap and Broadway tap. Broadway tap focuses on dance. Rhythm tap focuses on musicality.
